Everything parents ask us
Who exactly is driving my car?
A FamTravel employee valet — never a gig marketplace. Every valet passes a criminal background check and a motor-vehicle-record review, trains on our handoff protocol, and drives with a dashcam on. Your car is covered by $1M primary commercial insurance from key handoff to driveway photo.
How does my car get into the garage?
Your call. Most families leave the garage remote clipped to the visor, share a one-time keypad code in the app, or just have us park in the driveway. Codes are encrypted, single-use where supported, and purged after the trip.
What happens to my keys while I'm away?
For round trips, keys are sealed in a tamper-evident pouch and stored in a monitored lockbox at our local hub between legs. You can also opt to have us leave keys in your home via your smart lock.
Are the rental car seats really FAA-approved?
Our infant and convertible rentals carry the FAA certification label — "certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" — and the CARES harness is the only FAA-approved harness alternative for kids 22–44 lb. One honest note: belt-positioning boosters are not approved for use during flight (no aircraft seat has a shoulder belt), so we rent those for use at your destination only.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
We track your flight, not your booking time. Delays, gate swaps, and slow baggage all shift your pickup automatically at no charge. If your return is cancelled, we hold your car at home and rebook your delivery free.
How does the return actually work?
In reverse. Your valet drives your car to arrivals while the chase car follows. You walk out, load up, take your keys, and drive home. The chase car brings your valet back. If you rented seats, hand them to the valet — your own seats never left your car.
Is this really cheaper than airport parking?
For most trips, yes. A 7-day stay in an airport garage typically runs $150–$300 plus shuttle time with kids and luggage. A FamTravel round trip is a flat $159, your car stays safe at home, and the curb handoff takes about eight minutes.
Can I book same-day?
We recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead so we can guarantee a chase team and prep any rental seats. Same-day requests are accepted when capacity allows — the app will tell you instantly.
